I purchased a Super Fat Cat after trying a friends. Everything about the fishing experience in this tube is superb. However, the latest version has two design features that seem like a major downgrade over previous versions. One - the next uses magnets, whereas the older version had buckles of sorts. While this makes getting in and out easier, it's a nuisance for hiking the tube into remote ponds which is what we use them for. I do not trust the magnets to keep the net in place while hiking in/out with the tube on your back so now the net has become one more thing to carry separately and remember to bring from the truck. Secondly, albeit minor, the measure tape on the net is now stamped into the rubber and much harder to see in low light than the painted white tape on the previous model. Two steps backward on an otherwise great tube IMO.

We appreciate your honest feedback on the recent design changes. The switch to a magnetic apron was a necessary safety update to prevent potential entrapment issues associated with buckles. For your hiking trips, a quick tip: the apron rolls up easily and can be tucked securely under the seat cushion while the tube is inflated. This should keep it out of the way and secure during your trek to those remote ponds.
Regarding the visibility of the stamped measuring tape in low light, we haven’t received that feedback yet, but we will certainly look into it for future improvements.
